WL2400 LAN Cards Description  Mamaia lodgingThe models WL2400-ISA and WL2400-PCM are LAN adapter cards that provide wireless connectivity between desktop PC's, notebook computers and our Access Point unit. They offer a wireless peer-to-peer network between PCs, or to a wired Ethernet LAN if the Model AP2400 is connected to the LAN.
 These cards operate similar to Ethernet NACs (Network Adapter Cards), but they have a wireless connection to the network or other computers equipped with these cards. Once installed properly, the Wireless LAN is invisible to most users. The -ISA version plugs into an ISA slot on a desktop computer and the -PCM version plugs into a PCMCIA slot on a laptop computer or an Access Point Unit. The -PCM unit has a built-in antenna, but is also available with and antenna jack for connection to a external antenna or our AMP2440 pole mounted amplifier.
Access Point Compatible The Model AP2400 Access Point device connects to a wired Ethernet cable (BNC or modular plug) and can provide wireless connectivity from one wired LAN to another or to computers using the Model WL2400-ISA or -PCM wireless LAN cards. Long Range Possible The WL2400 products are also compatible with our pole mounted bi-directional amplifier, the Model AMP2440. Using our Model AMP2440 and our PM2423 grid dish antennas, ranges over 30 miles line-of-sight are possible with these units! Wireless Internet The WL2400 supports TCP/IP addresses and is Internet compatible. Using our Model AP2400 Access Point with an Internet Router, wireless Internet service can be provided to subscribers who have either the WL2400-ISA, the WL2400-PCM, or another AP2400 Access Point. IEEE 802.11 Compatible All the WL2400 models comply with the Wireless LAN International Standard IEEE 802.11. This makes these devices compatible with any other wireless LAN card or Access Point that is also compliant with the IEEE 802.11 Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum (DSSS) standards. Software Drivers The models WL2400-ISA and WL2400-PCM cards support various network software. The network driver is supplied to support Microsoft Windows 3.1x, Windows 95 and Windows NT.
