Attenuator Kit

The Attenuator Kit inserts loss in the antenna line to enable you to instantly determine the System Operating Margin (also referred to as Fade Margin) and is also very useful for aiming directional antennas. Professional installers will find this an invaluable tool in testing and certifying a remote site. It is especially useful in the 900 MHz and 2.4 GHz Spread Spectrum bands where trans-mitter powers are low and line of site is re-quired. The Attenuator is bi-directional, i.e., both transmit and receive signals are both equally attenuated. Inserting the Attenuator in the line simulates additional signal loss caused by fading weather, atmospheric conditions, moisture in cables, deterioration of cables Fresnel zone obstructions due to new buildings, and a myriad of other possible sources for degradation of the signals which may occur in the future. Knowing what your operating margin is will allow you to know weather your link is reliable or marginal. It will also let you know if an amplifier will be needed. The Attenuator Kit also saves you money! Using the kit, you determine if a reliable link can be achieved without an amplifier. Included with each kit is YDIs Bargraph Ping software for Windows. This software repeatedly pings the base site or WIPOP (Wireless Internet Point of Presence) and displays a bar graph on the screen requesting the ping delay.
